Thunderstruck 2023 – games, format and more
The Thunderstruck fighting game series returns this year for its second annual tournament after a hiatus following 2019. This latest event, Thunderstruck 2023, brings back one of the largest Mexican fighting game tournaments. This time there are increased prizes and a selection of the best fighting games that win tournaments here. It’s our first event since releasing numerous major fighters. How have things changed at Thunderstruck?
Thunderstruck 2023 will be a fighting game tournament where five of the best fighters will receive tournaments. We will see some of the best players in the region taking part in these games. The whole thing will take place from October 7th to 8th, live in San Nicolás de los Garza and in the official stream. This is what happens at the event.

Thunderstruck 2023 – Which games will be played?
Most fighting game tournaments are characterized by a large selection of different games. Compared to other tournaments, Thunderstruck has a more limited list of tournaments. The best fighters are currently active, but there aren’t too many other picks. These are all the titles we will see at the tournament.
- Street Fighter 6 – $19,950 prize money
- King of Fighters XV – $9,900
- Dragon Ball FighterZ – $22,532
- Tekken 7 – $2,700
- Guilty Gear Strive – $3,300
The impressive thing about most of these events is their place in the larger context. The King of Fighters XV is also part of the SWC 2023, a global circuit. FighterZ is a power event on the FighterZ World Tour. Additionally, the Tekken tournament is a dojo event for the TWT. There is something special at stake in each of these events, because here too success is linked to success on the wider tracks.

How exactly will the individual tournaments work? It’s a well-known format. Players first compete in open pools, the length of which varies depending on who registers for each game. Then there is the final double-elimination bracket. Here we will pare things down until we find the very best player.
