Zima, who has been engaged to former “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison since October 2021, was put in her place by the “Girls Trip” star within seconds of starting the interview.

It all started when Zima noticed that Haddish had switched from a tailored emerald green dress to a sequined lime green dress for the after parties.

Haddish presented the Best Foreign Film award while wearing the first dress.

“I’m in Italian from head to toe,” Haddish said Entertainment Tonight their ensemble. “Hopefully I’ll get some Italian in me later – and I mean spaghetti.”

But if she was interviewed by Zima on the red carpet later that evening, her bright green dress surprised the reporter. “Did you make a small costume change?” Zima asked.

“I’m not wearing a costume, I’m wearing Dolce & Gabbana. It’s called an evening dress, darling,” Haddish replied tersely while Zima pretended to fall to the ground in humiliation.

“No one pays me. I paid for it,” Haddish continued. “It’s a custom. Thanks.”

“The time of death for me is now,” Zima said.

“This isn’t an acting gig, this is my life,” Haddish informed her. “This is what glory looks like. This is what success looks like. This is what money looks like. That’s what it looks like.”

Haddish then called out to Zima for not wearing shoes during the interview, telling her that while her feet were also uncomfortable, at least they looked good.

Things only got worse when Zima steered the conversation to Haddish’s boyfriend Will Smith, who caused an uproar during the Oscars broadcast by taking the stage and beat Chris Rock for a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. Haddish revealed her support for Smith for standing up for his wife, then turned the tables on Zima and asked her what she thought of Smith’s reaction to Rock’s joke. Every time Zima tried to ask her another question, Haddish would provide her with an answer and pretty much control the rest of the interview.

Fans reacted to the uncomfortable exchange on social media. Some said they were uncomfortable watching the interview.

“I couldn’t watch secondhand for more than 15 seconds out of embarrassment,” said one Reddit commenter wrote.

“Lauren Zima tried. Tiffany Haddish assembled her as she should,” another wrote.

Others noted that Zima should have stopped asking questions about Smith.

“Tiffany Haddish ate Lauren Zima straight… Lauren even tried to take control of the interview but Tip just kept going,” another tweeted.

“The way Tiff just scooped Lauren up and put her in her little spot…” one Reddit user wrote. “I think she had flashbacks of what happened [Chris Harrison] and got together very quickly because one of them has to stay employed!”
