Tim Scott slams Biden for ‘seditious’ speech about Republicans: ‘Elections have consequences’

Senator Tim Scott (RS.C.) called President Joe Biden’s speech on Republicans “soul crushing.”

During an appearance on Fox News, host Shannon Bream asked Scott, “Is it really pipe dream to think that we can come to some kind of unity?”

Scott replied during Sunday’s interview: “Not at all Shannon. The good news is that post-crisis America always comes together. I call it the aftermath mentality.”

He added, “Whether it’s 9/11, the time I most united in American history, or you’re looking at South Carolina after the Mother Emanuel shooting.”

Scott said Americans are “the most extraordinary people in the world, and we are uniting post-crisis.” The question is, can we have the kind of leadership that will unite us without a crisis?”

What we haven’t seen from the Biden administration, according to the senator, is “that kind of unifying message that people are rallying around.”

He went on to mention Biden’s student loan cancellation policy and discussions about inflation.

Was Biden’s speech ‘soul wrenching’?

“And why would we let the President of the United States deliver a devastating speech that is unnecessary, polarizing and inflammatory?” Scott explained.

He continued, “We have done better, we will do better, and therefore elections have consequences.”

Biden said during a speech on September 8: “We are literally in a battle for America’s soul. I know I’ve been saying this for a year and a half, but I mean it,” before continuing, “Extreme MAGA Republicans just don’t threaten our personal and economic rights; they embrace political violence. Think about it.”

He continued: “They refuse to accept the will of the people. They threaten our democracy. You – and that’s no exaggeration. To this day they defend the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6.”

Earlier this month, the president pursued “MAGA Republicans” while delivering a speech at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, IJR reported.

“Too much of what is happening in our country today is not normal. Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said at the time.

Biden commemorated the 21st anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks at an event at the Pentagon on Sunday.

“It is not enough to stand up for democracy once a year or every now and then. We have to do that every day,” Biden said said.

He suggested this is a day “not just to be remembered, but a day of renewal and determination for every single American and our devotion to this country.”

Before his speech, Biden attended a wreath-laying ceremony.
