Tim Sherwood was part of Saturday’s Sky Sports Soccer panel earlier today where he commented on Antonio Conte at Tottenham.
Interestingly, the 53-year-old believes Daniel Levy will be “completely mad” at the Italian for his recent antics.
What is the story?
Sherwood also believes that, if any other manager followed suit, he would be sacked.
As quoted by Football everyday, the former Spurs manager said: “If anyone else did it, they would be fired. Daniel Levy will watch that interview and he will be absolutely on fire. “
It’s hard to disagree with Sherwood.
Conte effectively challenged Levy to rethink his position as manager, and take a deep look at what is happening at Tottenham.
It was an outburst of emotion, and if £250,000 a week the man didn’t have the reputation of an elite manager, there could have been greater consequences for him.
As Sherwood states, the fact that Levy has fired two managers in 2021 means that Conte has held most of the power in the situation, as it would not be a good view to sack a third boss. in less than a year.
Daniel Levy has to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham
As Conte said in his emotional interview, things never seem to change at Tottenham, no matter who the manager is.
We don’t blame him entirely, although the common denominator is Levy, as is the rest of the Tottenham board.
In our view, Levy needs to change his approach if he and Conte are to work together in N17.
The Italian only arrived in November and now, cracks are starting to appear in his relationship with the Spurs supremo.
That doesn’t bode well for the future, and with Conte happy to leave the job – just as he did at Inter Milan – Levy must change if Tottenham are to succeed.
