Tonight’s show host Karl Stefanovic raised eyebrows Monday after making a cheeky on-air joke about Queenslanders being excited about the potential legalization of marijuana.
Karl, 48, and Fill-In co-host Sarah Abo, 35, presented the weather report as they began talking about the state’s sunny skies.
Sarah commented that the Gold Coast looked “picturesque”, which prompted Karl to joke that the Queenslanders had another reason to be happy.
Today presenter Karl Stefanovic raised eyebrows on Monday after he made a cheeky on-air joke to inform presenter Sarah Abo (pictured together) that Queenslanders are stoners
“There was a lively discussion about the possible legalization of marijuana, wasn’t there?” he joked.
Karl also noted that it was “Bob Marley Monday” when a track by the legendary cannabis-smoking reggae star played in the background.
His cheeky taunt follows Green Party Senator David Shoebridge, who recently announced the Progressive Party’s push to legalize marijuana in a controversial bill set to open for public consultation later this year.
Karl joked that Queenslanders would be “elated about the potential legalization of marijuana there.”

Last week, Sarah roasted Karl for his fast food diet.
The pair were interviewing handsome AFL star Steve ‘Stevie J’ Johnson when Karl marveled at his performance.

After the segment ended, Karl remarked to Sarah that Stevie is “as fit as can be, he’s a fitness machine.”
Sarah said AFL players have muscular bodies because “they don’t eat Macca at 2am in London,” then gave Karl a pointed look.
An embarrassed Karl replied: “I told you not to tell anyone!”
The 60 Minutes reporter then apologized to her co-host and the pair laughed.
Sarah previously teased Karl about his age in July by asking him if he was the same age as Tom Cruise, ten years his senior
