Here’s today’s Jumble answer!

Wordle may be the internet’s great new obsession, but comic artist Martin Naydel’s Jumble has been delighting puzzle game enthusiasts since 1954. Once known as Scramble, the goal is simple: unscramble four words, then use selected letters from those words to complete a bonus challenge. Each puzzle comes with an illustration that gives a hint of what the bonus challenge will look like when it’s unlocked. When you get into the game yourself, but are stuck now today’s jumble answer to the October 28, 2022here’s what you need to know to continue your winning streak.

The best ways to solve word puzzles

If you’re new to Jumble, you might want to know a few tips we use to get us on the right track when it comes to unscrambling a bunch of random letters. While it’s often tempting to just stare at the letters in front of you and try to form words from the image in front of you, there are actually a few protocols you can use to make deciphering the lingo much faster. These include:

  • Separate consonants and vowels – Pretty obvious, but this simple step can make piecing together a muddled word so much easier, since you’re usually continuing with another one, or vice versa.
  • Look for common letter pairs – Like any language, English has common letter pairs that appear in hundreds of different words. Use this as a starting point. For example, “T” and “H” appear to appear in a variety of different words. Also note that two instances of the letters “O” or “E” or “L” can coexist in a word, but “P” and “Y” probably cannot.
  • Attachments – Try to recognize prefixes and suffixes that are common in the English language. These include pairings such as “auto” or “circum” or “de” in the case of prefixes and “ey” or “ment” in the case of a prefix.
  • Start small – Instead of trying to build up a long word to meet the Jumble Puzzle criteria, start with smaller words and then work your way up. Not only do smaller words often flow into larger ones, but shifting your letters into different arrangements can help open your mind to different possibilities.
  • Last way out – Use a Jumble Solver (technically it’s not a cheat)
