The recent Hunter x Hunter hiatus is drawing to a close as its writer Yoshihiro Togashi has confirmed that the next chapter is complete.
In a post to his Twitter account On the evening of March 8, he confirmed that chapter 401 of the long-running manga series was complete. He also stated that while the production system he uses to create chapters isn’t ideal, he’s happy to gradually get back to work. It’s unclear if this refers solely to his ongoing battles with diseases, or if it also refers to modified methods he uses for completing chapters on a weekly or semi-annual basis.
Not much more has been announced as to when Chapter 401 will be available across Shonen Jump’s print and digital releases. The company hasn’t made any official announcement regarding the return of the series or the release of the chapter, and the Shonen Jump official app and website has yet to update the release date information for the upcoming chapters in the series.
Fortunately, some information can currently be gathered about the chapter itself. Togashi’s tweet shows that 401 will have a total of 19 pages. We also know that it will likely focus on a new development involving Kurapika, since the final chapter ended on a cliffhanger where he interacted with Prince Tubeppa’s security team.
Still, it’s great news for fans of the series. The Hunter x Hunter manga briefly returned after years without publishing a chapter due to Togashi’s struggles with chronic illness and pain. The series had to be paused again in December 2022 due to these factors and is still paused to this day.
Hunter x Hunter is currently available to read through the Shonen Jump official app and website. For more information on the series, see a series of related articles below.
