Tottenham Hotspur are currently considered the preferred team to sign Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg, trailing Arsenal in the race.

Tottenham chase Svanberg move

iNews report that Tottenham have now pushed their way to the front of Svenberg’s signature queue.

Sources in Italy suggest that Tottenham are ready to let Svanberg make his first signing under Antonio Conte.

Manchester City are also tracking Svanberg, but Tottenham are the favorites.

Who is Mattias Svanberg?

Svanberg, 22, rose through the ranks of Malmo before a £4million move to Bologna in 2018.

On the international stage, Svanberg has 16 caps for Sweden and many more.

One of the key aspects of Svanberg’s game is his versatility. He has played an organized midfielder, box-to-box midfielder and even wide.

Likely seen as a more progressive midfielder when paired with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Oliver Skipp in Tottenham’s midfield, Svenberg has thrived in Italy – making Conte and Fabio Paratici hard to ignore.

Arsenal also love Svanberg

If Tottenham knock out Svanberg, it could leave Arsenal very disappointed.

Italian newspaper Il Resto del Carlino reported in November that Arsenal wanted to sign Svenberg.

We saw two North London clubs scrambling for another Bologna player over the summer at Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Now we could see the same thing with Svanberg, but it looks like Tottenham can win this game.
