Tottenham could reportedly sign £67m striker Conte, who showed ‘great potential’ in 2016

Jorge Mendes has reportedly approached Tammy Abraham to replace Harry Kane at Tottenham this summer. Antonio Conte once claimed Abraham had “great potential” when he became Chelsea manager in 2016.

Abraham, 24, joined Jose Mourinho’s Roma last summer for a fee of over £30m and is enjoying his time in Italy – scoring 23 goals in 40 games. While only 15 have come in Serie A, he has seven in eight league games.

Now, The sports report that Abraham was approached by super agent Mendes – along with Darwin Nunez – as a potential replacement for Kane. The England skipper is heavily associated with Manchester United.

Abraham has the potential to return to Chelsea Soccer Italy Claiming the Blues inserted a £67million buyback clause for the summers of 2022 and 2023. Conte is clearly a fan judging by his praise in 2016.

“Abraham is another young player who is definitely the future of Chelsea,” said Conte six years ago. according to The Mail. “He has great potential technically and physically. I think the academy works very well.”

Conte on Abraham: Tottenham need a playmaker alongside Roma star

Kane plays 10 and 9 at Spurs. His goals are as good as any striker’s at the moment, but he’s setting up goals for Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and others. Not many players can play two at a time.

Selling Kane would net Spurs a fee of well over £100m. It would be impossible to replace the English skipper but a striker of Abraham’s quality and a playmaker of a similar level would make a difference.
