As we type, Gareth Southgate is preparing his England squad for the forthcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

There is only one Tottenham player in the group, Harry Kane.

However, there is another one who arguably should still be with Spurs.

What’s the matter?

Well, Kyle Walker-Peters was called up by Southgate for the first time after injuries sustained to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James.

The 24-year-old left Tottenham in 2020 to join Southampton, where he has grown from strength to strength under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Now a photo of Kane with his arm around Walker-Peters from the England camp in St George’s Park has surfaced.

Spurs fans are sure to love this image as it features two academy graduates enjoying themselves on the biggest stage for an English footballer.

Walker-Peters may not be a Tottenham player anymore, but Spurs should be proud to see two of their own in the English camp.

Tottenham should re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters

Back then it seemed like Spurs had struck a decent deal as they effectively swapped Walker-Peters for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

However, Tottenham have struggled to find a reliable right-back since the deal went through. Serge Aurier, Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal all gave their best but none shone.

So we think Spurs should try to bring Walker-Peters back to N17 as he is now thriving.

The right-back has scored in 28 appearances this season two Goals – including a brilliant strike against Manchester City – and deliver at the same time four helps.

In our view, he would fit perfectly into Antonio Conte’s full-back system.

Whether Southampton would be willing to let him go, however, is another story.
