Christian Eriksen on Tottenham Hotspur has the makings of a fairy tale.
The Denmark international left Spurs two and a half years ago to join Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan for £18m.
But following his major health crisis 12 months ago, Eriksen has rebuilt his career and has been linked with a surprise return to north London after proving he was still an effective Premier after a six-month stint at Brentford in the second half League players can be last season.
It was even reported that the 30-year-old was keen to return to the Lilywhites.
However, Tottenham have seemingly changed their mind about signing the playmaker.
Corresponding The day starConte and Fabio Paratici have cooled their interest in a development that is now making Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag – who had him coach at Ajax last season – a favorite to bring the player to Old Trafford instead.
Apparently there will be no Christian Eriksen at Tottenham Hotspur.
But it’s still important that Conte and Paratici bring a playmaker to north London in the summer months.
They have already signed a winger in Ivan Perisic and a midfielder in Yves Bissouma.
However, the Italian absolutely needs a number 10.
The Spurs’ most creative player last season appeared to be Harry Kane and considering he’s also their top scorer it’s a problem only a true playmaker can salvage.
It won’t be Eriksen by the looks of it, but Tottenham certainly need to look at similar players.
