Tottenham Hotspur ace Ryan Sessegnon expects a “crazy” game against bitter rivals Arsenal when the two sides meet in May.
Tensions between Tottenham and Arsenal are frayed at the best of times and represent one of the greatest rivalries in English football.
This May meeting between the two teams is already poised to be one of the biggest in recent memory.
First of all, Tottenham fans are still not very happy with Arsenal because their original meeting in January has been postponed.
Spurs fans will be ready for the game because of this and the three points on offer could be absolutely crucial.
Arsenal and Tottenham now appear to be in a head-to-head battle for fourth place in the Premier League, with Manchester United and West Ham United having outside bets.
Tottenham are three points clear of Arsenal as it stands and with their meeting just 10 days before the end of the season, a win could win Champions League football for either side.
That’s huge for both sides – and Tottenham ace Sessegnon is already anticipating a momentous event.
Speaking to ESPNSessegnon noted he’s not from North London but he absolutely understands the importance of this game.
Both teams battling for the top four contribute so much to this game and Sessegnon believes it will lead to a “crazy, crazy game”.
Sessegnon added it would be “massive” for Tottenham to finish in the top four and seem to understand they need to beat Arsenal to get there.
“We want to continue the run and I think the game against them could be decisive,” said Sessegnon. “I’m not originally from North London but I know the nature of rivalry between London teams, especially when neighbors there are fighting for the same thing. It’s going to be a crazy, crazy game. If we finished fourth it would be a big achievement for the club,” he added.
After being comfortably beaten by Arsenal in September, Tottenham need to produce a better result and performance this time around.
Tottenham have improved greatly under Antonio Conte, with the team from Nuno Espirito Santo’s nightmare barely recognizable at the Emirates Stadium.
That gives Tottenham hope for a big win against the Gunners – and subsequent Champions League qualification.
