Trump is hiring a new law firm to handle his Jan. 6 subpoena

Former President Donald Trump has hired another law firm after the House committee voted Jan. 6 to subpoena him — following a report that the panel was struggling to serve its bevy of existing advisers.
Trump has hired the Dhillon Law Group, a firm that has represented sacked National Security Adviser Mike Flynn, Sebastian Ghorka and others in Trump’s circle, Politico reported.
The firm is run by Harmeet Dhillon, who has appeared as a commentator on Fox News and has filed several lawsuits challenging coronavirus stay-at-home orders.
The news came hours after it was revealed that the Jan. 6 House committee that voted to subpoena Trump at the dramatic conclusion of its public hearing last week had yet to serve him legal papers.
That was partly because the committee’s investigators were still trying to “find someone who is authorized to accept the service,” ABC News reported, citing sources familiar with the situation.

Trump has a roster of attorneys representing him in an extraordinary series of lawsuits. But “several lawyers” representing him said they were unable to accept service papers on his behalf.
This wouldn’t have been a difficult week tracking down the former president. He provided testimony in the defamation lawsuit filed by E Jean Carroll, who accuses Trump of raping her at a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. Trump denied the allegations and said she was “not my type”.
The clock is ticking for the January 6 mandate of the panel. It was created by a vote by the Democrat-controlled House, but House Republicans have vowed to end it.
Trump is being represented in the DOJ’s investigation into alleged abuse and removal of government documents in Mar-a-Lago by attorneys who have included Chris Kis, Evan Corcoran and Christina Bobb, though Bobb met with the FBI and questions about what she testified about Certificate signed, responding that a “diligent search” had been conducted, subject to a subpoena, in this investigation.
Although the committee vote has taken place, technically the committee has not yet issued it. That came as the panel was looking for the person who would represent Trump on the matter.
Panel member Liz Cheney said at an event at Harvard University that the panel would subpoena Trump “soon.”
Trump issued an angry 14-page response to the committee’s vote, in which he did not explain if he would appear in response to a subpoena.
“This memo was written to express our anger, disappointment and grievance that with all of the hundreds of millions of dollars that have been spent on what many consider to be a charade and a witch hunt, and despite strong and powerful pleas, you have not even spent “Have a brief moment to investigate the massive voter fraud that took place during the 2020 presidential election and only targeted those who, as concerned American citizens, protested the fraud itself,” he wrote.
