Trump’s doctor says he is in “excellent health” and has lost weight

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Donald Trump’s doctor wrote in a statement released on Monday that the former president is in “excellent health” and that “he will continue to lead a healthy, active lifestyle for many years to come.”
The note, which Trump, 77, posted on his Truth Social account, was posted on the same day as Democratic President Joe Biden’s 81st birthday. The physical and mental health of both men has become a major issue in the 2024 presidential campaign.
“President Trump has reduced his weight through improved diet and continued daily physical activity while maintaining a rigorous schedule,” said the note, signed by Bruce Aronwald, a New Jersey osteopath.
The note provided no further details.
“His physical exams were within normal limits and his cognitive exams were exceptional,” Aronwald wrote.
Trump leads the Republican nomination race by a wide margin, and Biden has announced he will run for re-election.
A Trump doctor, Harold Bornstein, who created a similar note in 2016, said Trump dictated the contents.
Trump said he weighed 215 pounds (98 kg) and was 6 feet 3 inches (1.9 meters) tall in August when he was charged with more than a dozen crimes at an Atlanta jail as part of a wide-ranging criminal investigation , which relied on the former US president’s attempts to overturn his 2020 election defeat in Georgia. Trump pleaded not guilty in that case and in three other criminal cases against him.
