Tunnel to Towers Gift to the family of SEAL Team 8 Commander

Tunnel to Towers founder Frank Siller learned of the shocking news that a Navy SEAL Team 8 commander died after a training exercise last week. He knew right away that he wanted to help in any way he could. And Siller is doing just that. He’s raising funds to pay off the Commander’s mortgage by Christmas, which should alleviate some of the stress from the family he’s been left behind.

Siller understands better than all that it’s possible to take a tragic situation and do something positive out of it. He lost his brother on September 11, 2001. Since then, he founded Tunnel to Towers, which supports first responders and military members.

Talk to the host of “Fox & Friends” This morning, Siller explained that Commander Brian Bourgeois had tragically died last week on December 7. A few days before, Bourgeois had been in a terrible training accident in Virginia.

Navy Special Operations Command said the 43-year-old commander was speeding down from the helicopter when he crashed. He was in a serious condition in the days before his death.

“Commander Brian Bourgeois has five children, and leaves behind his wife, Megan… It’s a tragedy, but at Tunnel to Towers, we wanted to pay off their mortgage by Christmas… That wasn’t it. a great gift for them,” said Siller.

Especially this time of year, says Siller, it’s important to let people know you care about them. After suffering such a debilitating loss, donating to this cause is one way to Cmdr. The bourgeois family knows that people care.

When she learned that Tunnel to Towers wanted to help and pay off their mortgage by Christmas, Siller said Bourgeois’ wife cried. “The burden of paying the bills for five children after the loss of a husband and father is more than a grieving wife can bear,” he said. And Siller wanted to make sure he was able to relieve some kind of stress on the family.

In an obituary posted by Virginian-Pilot, it talks about Cmdr. Bourgeois:

“Commander Bourgeois is a special combination of grit and determination along with a laid-back, easy-going personality. A leader of action, ‘Booj’ shows care and concern for those he serves and is always there to listen and provide help when needed. He defaults to the mindset of serving others and participating meaningfully in the community.”

The obituary added:

“Nothing brings him more pride and joy than his wife, children and dogs. He took every moment possible to give all of his love and care to his children.”

A private funeral service will take place for the SEAL team commander at the U.S. Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Md.
