The Tuskegee Golden Tigers kicked off their season by beating Fort Valley State at the Boeing Red Tails Classic. The Golden Tigers defeated Fort Valley State with a final score of 37-31.

This was Tuskegee’s first victory in the classic in three years. Head coach Aaron James, who also made his debut as Tuskegee head coach, spearheaded the Golden Tigers’ win.

The game ended on the last play when Fort Valley State was in the red zone and attempted a last-minute game-winning touchdown. The Golden Tiger’s defense went big with a stop and won the game.

“We’ve made a point of flexing throughout the offseason but not slacking in our defense and within our program,” said coach James. “Yes, I may be an offense coach, but offense may win games, but defense wins championships, and that’s where they showed in the end.”

The Golden Tigers return to action on Saturday, September 9th away at Kentucky State.
