Twitter adds support for themed icons on Android

To say that things have been a bit chaotic on Twitter lately is an understatement, but there is one positive note in the latest update for Android – Twitter now supports themed icons.
Introduced with the latest stable Twitter for Android update (9.68.1), the app now supports a themed icon on Android 13+ devices. This includes both Google’s Pixel smartphones and Samsung Galaxy devices, both of which support this Material You-theming on home screen icons.
When this feature is enabled, the Twitter app icon will change to match the colors of your wallpaper and system, as well as any other app that supports this feature. Other notable apps that support themed icons are Slack, Spotify, Telegram, Mastodon, Reddit, and more.

Specifically, this change has been merged by Chris Banes as in Twitter for Android updates he confirmed in a tweet. Banes is a former Twitter employee who worked on the Android app but left the company (along with much of the Android team). in November.
Notably, this latest Twitter update is still missing support for the new Twitter Blue, which for now is only available via the iOS app and offers the new form of platform verification and a few other features for $8/month (or more).
