Twitter was flooded with derisive memes after rugby star Joe Westerman was seen engaging in a sex act in a graphic video.

The married father of three, 33, is said to be the man starring in the widely shared clip – which has prompted an internal investigation into his club Castleford Tigers.

The England international’s wife Lauren tweeted today: “Can I make this VERY clear this is NOT me!!!!!!

“We have three kids, one of whom is almost 15, and she doesn’t need to see things like that all over social media!”

Social media users were quick to share memes about the incident.

Westerman’s Wikipedia page was modified to include the mockery: “He’s known to frequent the alleyway next to Greggs Bakery in downtown Pontefract.”

Other Twitter users erupted in hilarity at the Tigers star’s apparent demise.

One person said: “No matter how bad your Monday is, at least you’re not Joe Westerman rocking at practice today.”

A second added: “By far the worst thing to come out of Joe Westerman’s situation is having my own mum send me a meme about it.”

Interest in the shocking clip has even been noticed as far away as Australia, The Sun reports.

Castleford Tigers said they had launched an internal investigation into the video and had made no further comment.

After a brief stint, he played for Toronto Wolfpack in 2017, returning to his old club Hull. F.C,. citing his love for the club and manager Lee Radford despite enthusiasm from other clubs.

In 2022 he returned to his first club, Castleford Tigers, on a two-year contract.

At the time, an avid Westerner told the BBC: “Ever since I was a little boy I’ve always supported Cas [Castleford].

“All my family around me is supporting Cas to make it good and I’m really looking forward to that.”
