Two people attacked in Newton-le-Willows pub

A MAN was arrested at a pub in Newton-le-Willows last night, Saturday 17 December, after a “serious attack”.

At around 9pm officers were called to the Pied Bull in the High Street for reports of two men being assaulted.

A man in his 50s has been taken to hospital with head and facial injuries which are being investigated. The second man, in his 30s, suffered minor facial injuries.

Following investigation, a 25-year-old man from Golborne has been arrested on suspicion of premeditated Section 18 assault. He was taken to a police station for questioning.

Investigators are asking for information.

Detective Inspector Lawry Simm said: “Our investigation is still at an early stage but we initially believe this incident took place both on and off premises and resulted in serious injury to one of the victims.

“Forensic, CCTV and witness investigations are ongoing but if you saw or captured anything passing the pub, whether it be witness accounts, CCTV or dashcam, let us know and we will take action.
