There are two different types Encounters you can discover in Dying Light 2: Coincidentallyand campfire. As you explore Villedor City, you will most likely come across both which, if accepted, can earn you additional rewards and lore.
Random Encounters are marked as blue diamonds on the map and can be completed at any time during the story. Tasks often include rescuing other survivors from a horde of zombies and escorting an injured accomplice back to safety. Upon completion, a reward is given depending on the complexity of the task.

Encounters around the campfireon the other hand are represented by book icons on the map and can be completed at any time in the story. However, unlike random encounters, campfires are there simply to let you know about additional lore, with no challenge or objective. All you have to do is rest near an available fire and listen to other survivors’ stories or songs.
