Supermodel and former America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks won’t be returning to host Dancing With the Stars as the show transitions from ABC to Disney Plus for seasons 31 and 32, according to a new report.
Here’s what the show says is happening on the show The sun:
A source told the Sun that it “doesn’t look like Tyra is coming back”
According to The Sun, a source says that while there’s no new host, it “doesn’t look like Tyra is coming back”.
“There’s no official decision on who will be hosting the next season, but it doesn’t look like Tyra is coming back,” the source said. “That would be a decision of the network, not their decision.”
Heavy has reached out to ABC and Disney Plus for comment on The Sun’s report, but has yet to receive a response.
The source said that Dancing With the Stars “hasn’t had a clear direction” lately
According to The Sun’s source, “Dancing With the Stars” was in chaos behind the scenes, which is why the show is moving to Disney Plus; The source says the move wasn’t entirely Banks’ fault.
While season 30 was considered a crucial success because the contestants were very popular and the winner Iman Shumpert was very popular, “the production was a mess”.
“The production was a mess with no clear direction to go [the show] went, which is why certain producers have been axed in recent months,” the source said.
The producer the source mentions is executive producer Andrew Llinares, who said he resigned from the show in March meeting. This report followed a December 2021 report by The sun that the show was already looking for someone to replace Banks as host.
“The mix of behind-the-scenes chaos and historically low ratings ended up being the nail in the coffin,” the source said in The Sun’s April 2022 report. “ABC felt the investment was no longer worth it, wanted it but don’t drop it as a whole.”
That’s why the show is moving to Disney Plus, not just because Banks was so unpopular with viewers.
“I wouldn’t say it’s Tyra’s fault that the show was canceled by the network. I mean, that certainly didn’t help, but she came in and did the job she was hired to do,” the source said. The problem is, she just didn’t fit in. It didn’t fit the producers and it didn’t fit the audience, and it showed.”
The source said the change in management broke the Dancing With the Stars family
The source also said that Dancing With the Stars used to be “like a family behind the scenes,” but all of that changed when new management was hired.
“Dancing With the Stars has always functioned as a family behind the scenes. And when new executives and producers came along a few seasons ago, that family broke up,” the source said. “It wasn’t the same show and everyone involved in it feels that to some degree. So it’s been an unfortunate environment in recent seasons.”
Fans have been unhappy with “Dancing With the Stars” for a number of reasons over the past several years. They’re still upset that the show lost his results show after season 23 because the elimination on the same night of performances hurts the couples dancing later in the night and it speeds up the whole episode. They also complain that the show has not aired since season 26 in the springand they were outraged when executives fired original host Tom Bergeron and his co-host Erin Andrews after season 28 — they were vocal against the hosting job Banks has done on the show during her two seasons.
Ex-host Bergeron even recently joked on Twitter that he “should get an endorsement deal with Elmer’s” after CBS News’ Nancy Giles called him “the glue that stuck.” [the show] together.” Bergeron previously quipped that “Karma is off****” after it was announced that Llinares was leaving the show.
Dancing With the Stars returns for Season 31 on Disney Plus in Fall 2022. It will be interesting to see how the move reshapes the 16-year dance competition series.
