Current UFC middleweight king Israel Adesanya has received an apology from “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt after the actor criticized his performance last weekend.
Pratt attended UFC 276 which took place on July 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the spotlight of the night, “The Last Stylebender” put his 185-pound belt into a match against Jared Cannonier. And although Adesanya scored her fifth title defense, many saw the match as a lackluster affair.
The fight was on foot and although Adesanya left no doubt in the minds of the judges, winning by unanimous decision, Pratt was less than impressed with the champion’s performance. Before the fight, The Last Stylebender emphasized its intention to add to its standout reel and to “show and show.”
Pratt doesn’t feel like Adesanya has accomplished that, saying after the fight (h/t Bloody Elbow): “I’ll say this as humbly as possible, as a guy who has never entered the Octagon. I don’t know this game, I’m just an actor. But I’m not a fan, man. I’m not someone who likes to go out and be like, all that talk and then just be a little dull. “
“I said, ‘Come on, man! Cash! ‘ You have to return that bad promise**. “
Adesanya replied to Pratt’s comment, Pratt apologized
The Last Stylebender responded to Pratt Wednesday morning by taking to Twitter and posting a clip from the movie “Wanted,” writing: “Good morning. I’m a man. You are just a fan. “
In the clip, Pratt plays a character named Barry who is hit in the face by another character, Wesley, with a keyboard. Before Barry hit the keyboard, he asked Wesley, ‘Who is the man?’
Beating Barry, Wesley replied, “I’m a man.” Watch the clip below via Adesanya’s tweet:
The tweet prompted Pratt to respond, who apologized to the 3-pound-for-pound boxer.
“You’re right,” Pratt tweeted. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I annoy me when people criticize my work – they themselves have never risked anything. It makes me a hypocrite to do exactly that to you. My bad. Let’s continue to win. “
Adesanya’s next potential rival, Alex Pereira, also criticized his performance
In the main game of UFC 276, Alex Pereira brought himself to the top of the middleweight group with a thunderous KO against Sean Strickland. “Poatan”, who has beaten Adesanya twice in kickboxing, is currently 6th in the table and will likely face The Last Stylebender next.
Pereira reacted to Adesanya’s performance against Cannonier in his post-match press conference. And in a nutshell, Poatan isn’t thrilled with what The Last Stylebender has done inside the Octagon.
“He did his part well, but it was a fight that not only didn’t excite me but also didn’t excite the crowd,” Pereira said through a translator (h/t MMA Fighting). “I was sad to see that, so I hope when we play against each other, he will hit better than that. But for sure, I will make him fight to give the audience a better performance. “
