US stock markets closed for Good Friday, Asian indices fall

Asian indices fell on Friday as US stock markets and others around the world shut down to end a trading week shortened by Good Friday and other public holidays.

In addition to the US stock markets, the bond and commodity markets were also closed on Friday. Some Asian markets were open. Japan’s Nikkei 225 ended the day down 0.3% and ended the week up 0.4% to break a two-week losing streak. The Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.4% to end the week down 1.25%. The People’s Bank of China eased a key bank lending restriction on Friday while interest rates remained unchanged.
