Vacationer finds rare $4,000 PURPLE pearl while eating clams at resort

A Pennsylvania man vacationing with his family at a Delaware beach resort was thrilled when he stumbled upon a rare purple pearl lodged in one of the clams he was eating that is worth a staggering $4,000.

Scott Overland was dining at the Salt and Air restaurant in Rehoboth, Delaware and was about to finish his meal when he stumbled upon the precious pearl.

As he chewed, Overland said he “felt something hard and crunchy,” Fox5 News reported.

First he said he thought it was ‘a bead or a candy”, even noting “one of those button candies that says on the paper” because of its “light, lavender, almost violet color.’

Overland said as he Taking a closer look at the shell, he saw that “it had a little indentation where something was growing.” And, he explained as he placed the bead in the indentation, “It was a perfect fit!”.

“The bead was perfectly round,” he said, “and fitted perfectly into the shell.”

Overland initially believed the pearl could be worth as much as $1,000 – but was pleased to discover that it was actually worth much more

Through Google, he learned it could cost anywhere from $600 to $1,600, depending on the size and shape of the bead.

To find out more about his treasure, he relied on the experts – GIA, the leading authority on diamonds, colored stones and pearls – to find out how valuable his pearl was: an estimated $4,071. He didn’t say what he intends to do with the pearl.
