Viral TikTok reveals iPhone’s pinch-and-paste feature

TikTok was shocked after videos revealed iPhone’s viral pinch-and-paste feature.

iPhone has come up with various hacks to make people’s life easier and pinch and paste feature is one of them. However, for a long time people were not aware of it.

Luckily, TikTok and other social media users found out about this feature after coming across videos depicting the same thing.

Viral pinch-and-paste video investigated

Several users learned about this feature when they came across TikTok videos showing the “magic” being performed. It starts with a user holding an iPhone while keeping their iPad nearby.

The user continues to show a photo on their phone, uses the pinch motion, and then places their hand on the iPad. Within seconds, the photo will be transferred to the other device.

While the video might have convinced everyone it was magical, or made some question whether it’s even possible, the trick is done by an iPhone feature called Universal Clipboard.

How does this feature work?

The universal clipboard allows playback of any content from one gadget to another. However, in order to use this feature, it is important to note that both devices are running under the same Apple ID. If not, this is not possible.

Both devices must be active at the same time. One can transfer content from iPad to iPhone or vice versa. You can also run this hack on Mac.

How to run this function

If you want to perform this function, all you have to do is press three fingers inward to copy on the device and then slide three fingers outward to paste the content on the other gadget.

If you record yourself doing it, it looks nothing short of magical. This feature was originally launched a few years ago, but it’s only recently that people have realized its existence.

You can try other functions of the iPhone

  1. Press backspace in the calculator: If you left with a number, just hit backspace and the digit you want will be deleted.
  2. Receive notification via camera flash: To enable this feature, go to attitude > Accessibility > audio/visual > LED flash for alerts
  3. Zoom in on your camera: Go to attitude > Accessibility > magnifying glass
