When all was said and done, Bryce Leatherwood was crowned champion on NBC’s The Voice. The country singer spent the season on Blake Shelton’s team, eventually being named Shelton’s ninth winner.
leatherwood said NBC insider that he was very emotional as soon as the finale aired.
“I was just shaken up,” he told the outlet. “It was like living a dream. Then there was the confetti and the loud energy. Thank god you could have heard me sob. I was just so happy to make my family proud and make a lot of people proud.”
Leatherwood feels blessed and hopes to release A Lot of Music
Leatherwood told NBC Insider that he plans to continue working in the music industry and feels blessed to have won The Voice.
“Nothing But Smiles” Leatherwood shared when asked how he’s been feeling since his time on the show. “I was just so blessed to be able to do this season and get the chance to do Blind Audition. To get the chance to sing so many incredible songs in so many incredible atmospheres. What a journey that was, man. You just have to count your blessings and I am very blessed.”
He also said he hopes to keep working on music and releasing “a lot” of it in the coming months.
“Definitely releasing a lot of music,” Leatherwood told NBC Insider. “Play gigs. That’s what I like doing best: playing shows. But I want some original content out there. I want to release an album or two in the next few years. So many people have given me so much love, it’s time to give something back to them. So whether it’s music or playing shows and festivals, making people happy is my goal.”
After winning the show, Leatherwood went to Instagram to tell fans that he will forever “cherish” “The Voice”.
“I’m at a loss for words…” he wrote. “This experience is one I will cherish for the rest of my life. The incredible people I met on this trip made it all worthwhile. To my family, the people of Georgia and to my fans around the world, THIS IS FOR YOU! God is good.”
Leatherwood was responding to the hate he saw online
Throughout The Voice season, some viewers have shared negative thoughts about Leatherwood online. Leatherwood told it recently cinema mix that he doesn’t let hatred get him down, but lets it fuel it.
“I’ll always tell people, be careful what you read online because it can affect you especially, because it can affect you especially, because you’re an artist and your confidence can be fragile at times,” he told the outlet. “But it didn’t bother me personally. People were like, ‘Bryce, you can’t read that stuff,’ and I was like, ‘I like it.'”
He said people tell him it’s unhealthy to read the negative comments.
“I think the bad comments are almost like fuel,” he told Cinema Blend. “It’s like, ‘Oh yeah? Look at that.’ And I used that as fuel for people to say, ‘Oh, he’s no good. He has to do better, he has to get better.’ I think alright well I’ll try to work harder to get better.”
The Voice returns for Season 32 on March 6, 2023 with trainers Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper.
