Walmart, Target & Best Buy will be closed on Thanksgiving

Roommates, as we gear up for the holiday season, you may want to start your holiday shopping early! Many of us are waiting until Black Friday to hit the stores to snag deals, but some of the biggest retailers won’t be available. Corresponding CNN, Walmart, Target, Kohl’s and Best Buy’s will close their doors on Thanksgiving. John Furner, CEO of Walmart US, said in an interview on Wednesday, “That’s a thing of the past. We’re closed again on Thanksgiving. Fortunately, all of our employees are able to spend time with loved ones this year.”

If you recall, in 2020, Walmart announced it would be closing on Thanksgiving, which was the first time in more than 30 years. Target, Best Buy, and Kohl’s are following suit, as they did in 2020 and 2021. It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted these retailers to close their doors to limit crowds and extend the holiday shopping season. Additionally, retailers don’t want everyone shopping at the same time either. While Walmart’s doors remain closed for the holidays, that has nothing to do with the Black Friday deals.

The company is reportedly bringing back its Black Friday Deals for Days events starting November 7, and they’ll be happening every Monday throughout the month. Charles Redfield, Walmart US Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer, stated, “Black Friday has evolved over the years from a single day into an entire season and is without a doubt the most anticipated shopping event of the year.”

Target also listed its Black Friday deals. According to their website, some of the big sale items are getting 40% off; Kitchen appliances, cookware, laptops, printers and computers and more.
