Want Some Low-Cost Gaming Fun? Give These Choices a Go

Gaming is an amazing hobby to have. Just being able to get back home from a stressful day at work, pick up a controller, and feel all that tension float away. Unfortunately, though, it’s also a hobby that can inflict some real strain on your wallet. Even if we ignore the insane cost of the consoles (especially the PS5, which has been super difficult to track down anyway, so make sure to keep up on where to buy PlayStation 5 consoles online) the games themselves can still come in at a hefty price. For example, if you wanted to purchase the latest basketball game, NBA 2K23, it would set you back at least $59.99. That’s for the standard version, if you wanted the special Michael Jordan edition, that comes in at a whopping $99.99.

These extortionate costs can price people out of being able to enjoy their favourite pastime, especially as it’s now becoming much rarer to be able to buy preowned games. However, don’t fret, as we’re here to guide you towards some great games that won’t break the bank. All of our choices below can be found for under $20, making them much easier on the wallet. Plus, they might all be lower in price, but they’re still high in quality and will make for fantastic additions to your game library.

Payday 2

This game might be called Payday 2, but you won’t have to wait until your payday to play it. If you’ve ever watched one of the greatest heist movies ever made and thought that you’d like to give that a go, but you know, don’t want to actually commit any crimes, then this game is for you. It was originally released back in 2013 when developers Overkill Software managed to build on the already solid foundations of the first game in the series.

There’s a gang of 22 world-class robbers heading to Washington D.C. for a crime spree, and you get to take control of one of them and help them perform a succession of heists, that elevate in difficulty. It’s not just banks you’ll be robbing though, as there’s also a variety of luxury shops, and armoured cars, that will be your targets.

Cuphead

This game is a super slice of retro action and is a must-have for fans of the classic run-and-gun genre. Cuphead was first released in late 2017, and its 2-D artwork amassed much fanfare for its clever reimagining of a style known as rubber hose animation, which heralded the Golden age of American animation. These stylized graphics set the game apart from the pack, as did its masterful gameplay, which incorporated well-designed platforming, with run-and-gun mechanics.

This made the game seem simple in theory, but it’s actually notoriously difficult to perfect. This means that you’ll get many hours of play-through time, as you try to master every level. One of the most renowned tricky bits is the penultimate stage, called All Bets Are Off! which has you entering a demonic casino and battling against the evil King Dice and his minions.

If you want an easier casino experience though, then this is simple to do globally nowadays, thanks to the increase in online casinos. Asiabet, for example, showcases the top online casinos for Asian countries, including India, where they have featured the best casino bonuses. Each carefully selected option allows users to simply click on the offers to grab a lavish promotion, including free spins, and even cash-back deals. Or, if they need a bit more help, there’s all the information provided about how to best make the most of each generous deal, and exactly why they’re the top choice to make.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 4

Any of the games in this survival horror series would’ve been great at providing some cheap thrills, but we’ve gone for the 4th instalment. Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, first released in 2015, was amazingly developed by a single guy, called Scott Cawthon, who managed to build one of the largest cult video game franchises ever, all by himself. The lore of the series has seemingly taken on a life of its own, with there now being even books centring on its creepy animatronics.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 will take all of your wits to complete, as you have to shine your torch on the approaching monsters, to keep them at bay. It’s not the most in-depth game out there, but it’s priced at under $5, so is a steal at that cost. Plus, if you really enjoy this horror show, then you can easily pick up all the rest of the entries in the franchise for equally as dirt cheap as well.
