As the Golden State Warriors pre-season schedule kicks in, new storylines will emerge. Their first game against the Washington Wizards was the perfect example as fans everywhere spoke of James Wiseman’s impressive performance.

However, as the Warriors prepare for the upcoming season, the front office still has to take care of the financial side of things. If Green declines his player option for next year and they don’t get an extension with Jordan Poole by October 17, Green, Poole and Andrew Wiggins will all play in the last year of their contracts.

Everyone should be able to make a lot of money on the open market, but Green has made this public He wants a maximum deal. And according to sources who spoke to Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney, he wouldn’t hesitate to leave Golden State. In fact, the Los Angeles Lakers would be one of his favorite destinations.

“For example, if he gets a big offer from Detroit or maybe Dallas or the Lakers where he would like to play? He won’t be afraid to go. He understands this business,” a Western Conference executive told Deveney.

While the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks were also listed as potential landing spots, the executive noted that Green’s connection to the Lakers stems from his relationship with LeBron James and his desire to be a media star.

Green loves James and the entertainment industry

The Warriors built a dynasty on the backs of Green, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Still, Green’s close friendship with James might be enough to convince him to leave if the Warriors don’t give him the deal he wants.

Add that Green wants a career in entertainment and Los Angeles just makes sense. He’s also a Klutch customer.

“He’s Klutch. You know he loves being on the barbershop show with LeBron. He wants to have an entertainment career when he’s done gaming. You don’t have to be in LA for that, but it helps,” manager Deveney said.

Green has already started breaking into the media industry with his podcast, The Draymond Green Showand through appearances on national NBA television. However, being in Los Angeles would help him centralize things.

The board also stressed that Green would not shy away from leaving the Warriors if it came down to it.

“There is a feeling that he would leave” Warrior

According to the West Executive, Green wants to be in the Golden State. However, if the Warriors can’t meet his contract demands, he wouldn’t shy away from leaving.

“He doesn’t want to, but if you ask around, there’s a feeling he would,” the executive explained. “There’s a limit to how much they’re going to spend keeping this thing together, and because they have young people in almost every position, they approach it like there’s no one else to hold but Steph. Look, it would suck for them if Draymond left, it would suck to have to call Steph and tell him, but Draymond has made it clear he cares about player power.”

There are a number of teams that could attack Green if he were to leave Golden State, but the Lakers are one of the teams to watch out for.
