Erika Jayne berates Garcelle Beauvais for ‘now canceled TV show’
While appearing on the Season 12 Episode 19 Bravo aftershow, Jayne targeted Beauvais with a dig about the cancellation of her talk show.
“Listen, I’m not here to talk about earrings or, you know, who owns them or the legal situation around them,” Jayne Dorit Kemsley recounted the Aspen trip conversation. “I try to have a good time with my friends. Look, I’m trying to put all of these issues aside for a second. I don’t need to come to Aspen for a trip and get grilled about something you’ve already talked about on your now-cancelled TV show. Only me, not me.”
Kemsley laughs in surprise at Jayne’s jab, to which Jayne replied, “Well, that’s the truth.”
The $750,000 earrings were a topic of discussion throughout the season and beyond.
In the episode, Jayne confronts Beauvais about her show The Real, which brought up the subject of earrings.
“I would have loved to hear ‘The Real’ heads up,” Jayne told Beauvais at Crystal Kung Minkoff’s birthday party. “Because you know I know you shot that before we went to Aspen and I thought we had a connection.”
“We did,” said Beauvais.
In the after showreveals more to Jayne.
“I didn’t know it at the time, but when I sat down that night, she had already filmed an episode of ‘The Real’ talking about those earrings.”
On the show, you can see Beauvais try not to talk about the earrings anymore, but does so because it was her job to do so.
“She had already filmed the whole episode giving her and the other women’s opinions on ‘The Real’ and then didn’t have the nerve to tell me,” Jayne said on the aftershow.
In June 2022, a judge ordered Jayne to return the earrings, which contained “settlement funds from the escrow account set up for a class action lawsuit by [Tom’s] Girardi Keese company were used to pay for the diamond earrings owned by Erika”, according to law 360. The outlet reported that US Bankruptcy Judge Barry Russell didn’t think Jayne knew the money was stolen but “she’s still in possession of stolen property.”
Beauvais’ show “The Real” was canceled in April 2022: “This is not goodbye, but see you soon”
The Real was cancelled after eight seasons in April 2022.
One of the show’s co-hosts, Loni Love, wrote about the cancellation on Instagramand quoted that “COVID-19 costs killed this show”.
“Real’s cast and crew did everything they could to downsize the show,” Love wrote. “Thank you to the studio for making possible 8 seasons of a show that was Emmy-winning and historic. First and foremost, thank you to the spectators who rode with us. This isn’t goodbye, but see you soon!”
Beauvais too confirmed the end of the show tweet, “Need to work with a group of great women and crew,” April 8, 2022.
