An unsettling body cam video of the shooting of a Phoenix police officer is release that showed a suspect, Morris Jones, shooting at an officer approaching a house.

You can watch the video below, but be aware that it’s offensive and offensive. The video was part of an even larger incident in which nine officers were injured overall, with five shot. No officers died.

Jones, who was identified by police as the shooter, was a Crips gang member known as “Petey Gun” who was also charged in the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Shatifa Lobley, February 11, 2022. officers arrived at the place of residence. She later died.

“February 11: Moment a suspect ambushes one of our officers in response to a call from a woman to be shot. He lured the officer to help the woman, then opened fire. The officer was hit multiple times and was unable to return fire due to a severe gunshot wound to his right arm,” the ministry wrote.

“Hey, come on. She is choking on her own blood. Stay strong, buddy. Do your best,” the suspect said in the video.

“Everybody in the house?” asked the official.

“Huh?” the suspect said.

“Who are all the houses?” officer repeats.

“Me,” the suspect said, firing at close range.

Police say the officer was ambushed and shot several times

The first officer to be “ambushed” after answering a call about a woman being shot, Sergeant Andy Williams of the Phoenix Police Department said in a press conference.

“When the first officer arrived on the scene, he approached the house to help. He was actually invited inside by the suspect – an adult male,” Williams said. “Equal [the officer] Approaching the threshold, the ambush suspect shot him several times with a gun. That officer turned around in time and went to safety.”

Williams said an “adult male” – not a suspect – then came to the door while holding an infant.

“He put that infant on the ground in front of the door, walked over to the officers – he was taken into custody,” Williams said.

As officers approached the baby, the suspect opened fire again from inside the home, striking the four officers with gunshots, Williams said. Four other officers were injured “indirectly by bullets or shrapnel,” and two officers returned fire, he added.

Williams said the department’s SWAT team attempted to negotiate with the suspect until they eventually entered the home, where they found the suspect “dead inside” and an adult woman with serious injuries. According to ABC15, the woman – believed to be Jones’ ex-girlfriend – later died of her injuries. The agency also said it was unclear whether Jones’ injuries were self-inflicted.

Jones, who once told police he ‘Always liked & had a gun,’ had a long criminal history

According to ABC15Jones, 36 – whose full name is Morris Richard Jones III – has been in trouble with the law since he was 18 and “spent most of his adult life in the criminal court system”.

ABC15 news Jones’ criminal history includes a car theft, a federal shooting and more.

He has links to the Crips gang, uses the nickname “Petey Gun” and has returned to prison for violating probation for drug use, according to the station.

He was charged in Arizona with “conspiracy to illegally transport aliens for profit” and given three years’ probation in the 2020 case but charged with drug use in 2021 and returned to prison. , the newspaper reported.

He is charged in a domestic case in 2021.

A federal complaint obtained by Heavy states that Jones, in 2006, led Tulsa police officers in a high-speed pursuit that resulted in a helicopter joining the pursuit. The document said he was charged with disposing of a loaded gun, resisting officers and being pepper sprayed.

“He was subsequently arrested for Felon’s conviction for possession of a firearm, multiple traffic and obstruction offences, as well as five… misdemeanor warrants,” the court documents said.

Authorities executed a search warrant and confiscated a firearm and several rounds of ammunition, according to court documents.

The suit says he told authorities he took the nickname Petey Gun “from his grandfather when he was a child” and that he “always liked and had guns”. He said he obtained the guns by trading “cracked heads” for “stones,” the document said.
