Dramatic photos and video showed the aftermath of a traffic accident in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin that killed three people at an intersection near a busy mall. You can see them all over this article, but be aware that they are annoying.
Several videos show several burning vehicles; in a video, shared by Journalist Tajma Hall on Facebook, a woman’s screams echo in the background.
Wauwatosa Police Chief James MacGillis, cconfirmed in a press conference that three people died in the afternoon accident on December 13, 2022.
Several local TV channels aired Dramatic bystander video showing the burning vehicles.
The accident was caused by a Milwaukee City Department of Public Works employee driving a DPW truck, MacGillis said. However, it is not clear if this driver had a medical emergency or something else was going on. According to MacGillis, the unnamed driver is one of the three fatalities.
The DPW employee’s name was Denise Durrah. The other two victims were Amy Miller of Cedarburg and Paul Woida of Milwaukee.

The chief says the DPW truck crashed into parked cars
According to MacGillis, the fatal accident occurred when the DPW truck crashed into stationary vehicles. The victims were not named; Two other people were taken to hospital but their condition was unclear, the chief said.
The heavy DPW truck “collided into several vehicles that were stopped in traffic,” the boss said, adding that the three victims who died were all adults.
He said 10 vehicles were involved in the accident.
“Our hearts go out to the families of the deceased, the injured and those who witnessed this terrible accident today,” the chief said.
WISN TV journalist Nick Bohr tweeted that The victims’ vehicles were parked at a stop light and the DPW vehicle was traveling between 50 and 80 miles per hour when it crashed into them, according to witnesses. MacGillis was asked about the speed and he declined to comment, saying it was being investigated. He also declined to comment on whether the driver of the DPW truck had a medical emergency.
The fatal crash was preceded by a minor accident
According to the police chief, there were two accidents involving the DPW truck in a short period of time near the Mayfair Mall, a busy shopping center in Wauwatosa, a suburb adjacent to the city of Milwaukee.
First, the DPW vehicle was involved in a minor accident on Mayfair and Watertown Plank Roads, not far from the scene of the fatal accident on North Mayfair Road and West Wisconsin Avenue, he said.
911 calls began flooding the Wauwatosa Police Department around 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, he said, reporting first the minor accident and then the major one, in which vehicles burst into flames.
He said the DPW truck drove away from the scene of the first accident and bystanders rendered assistance to the victims of the second accident.
The names of the victims have not yet been released. It is also not clear if they were in different vehicles.
