We would like to publish your college application essay about money

We don’t talk about money enough, nor do people write about it very often with nuance and emotional resonance. However, you can be an exception. Then we would like to read your work.

Each spring we publish a handful of college application essays about money, broadly speaking. Last year there were essays about restaurant work and comedy, daycare and street food.

We want to hear all sorts of stories: struggle and privilege, triumph and defeat, hard lessons and sudden revelation. What matters is that it’s your personal history of microeconomics.

There are only a few rules. This must be an essay that you submitted to at least one college as part of an undergraduate admission application. We won’t publish the name of the school you’re trying to attend, but we need to know what it is just to verify that the essay (and you) are real.

Your essay must be from the current application season – if you are already enrolled or doing a gap year and applied to college last year, you are not eligible.

And again, the essay must have something to do with money. Everything, really.

Please send us your essay using the form on this page by Friday June 10th. If you have more than one to share, please submit them separately. We plan to release some of them at the end of June and we pay the authors our normal freelance rate.
