West Ham are keen to re-sign Josh Cullen but Vincent Kompany now seems keen on reuniting at Burnley after dating at Anderlecht.

The Hammers have just lost a midfielder who has risen through the ranks at the club, while Mark Noble has hung up his boots.

They also struggle to keep another, with Declan Rice understandably drawing a lot of interest.

In fact, however, they’ve also been linked to bringing a former Hammer back into the club, with Cullen on the radar.

West Ham want to re-sign Josh Cullen

Back in April, transfer insider Dean Jones claimed West Ham scouted Cullen ahead of a potential offer.

West Ham sold Cullen to Anderlecht for just £500,000 in 2020 but already want him back in East London to bolster David Moyes’ midfield.

Noble’s retirement and Alex Kral’s disappointing loan spell mean West Ham really need a midfielder this summer and Cullen could be his man.

The 26-year-old spent 15 years at West Ham but only made three Premier League appearances before joining Anderlecht.

Cullen has impressed in Belgium and the Republic of Ireland international could be offered a return to West Ham – but his former manager now wants him.

Vincent Kompany was Anderlecht boss when Cullen signed, meaning the duo worked together for two years.

Kompany has now become Burnley manager and looks set to secure a reunion with Cullen this summer.

claim of iNews that Premier League clubs – possibly West Ham too – want to sign Cullen, but Burnley are now in the running.

It’s understood Burnley likes Cullen anyway, but Kompany’s appointment only increases interest.

We could now see relegated Burnley launch a move to bring Cullen back to England, meaning he would be in claret and blue again – just not from West Ham.
