West Ham United are a potential destination for Lille winger Jonathan Bamba this summer, but face a major battle for his signature.
That’s according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sportwho thinks Bamba could move this summer.
It is reported that Bamba is attracting a lot of interest with West Ham, far from the only club interested.
Atalanta, Sevilla and Bayer Leverkusen are also interested, with a price tag of around £16.5m on Bamba’s head.
However, West Ham are on the hunt and hope to lure the Frenchman to East London this summer.
The Hammers went after Bamba last summer according to The Express and has yet to give up hope of signing him.
Bamba, 25, is full of speed and dexterity but has had a rough season this term.
Primarily a left winger, Bamba has played 19 games in Ligue 1 this season but is yet to score a goal.
Bamba succeeded with at least two assists, but the wait for the elusive first goal of the season looks set to stretch into March.
West Ham fans may be alarmed by the idea of spending significant amounts of money on a player struggling to score, but this is not the first Premier League opportunity for Bamba.
Last year, Sky Sports reported that Tottenham are eyeing Bamba as a possible replacement for Gareth Bale.
Tottenham ultimately failed to make a deal for Bamba, unwilling to replace Bale in last summer’s transfer window.
Bamba could still go to London for now, with West Ham appearing to be big fans of the man widely and potentially positioning themselves for a summer contract.
In other news, Tottenham are said to want to sign the 20-year-old star after Celtic missed out on a £6.6m deal.
