It’s done, but damn… what a legacy it left behind.
Created by Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders has established itself as one of the most popular crime dramas of recent memory.
With an exceptional cast and exciting storytelling, this British gangland tale has earned critical acclaim since it premiered in September 2013.
When word got out that it would be fading from screens with a sixth and final season, anticipation couldn’t have been greater. How would we say goodbye to fan-favorite characters?
Well, the answers are here, with some focusing their attention on one character in particular. What happened to Finn Shelby in the Peaky Blinders season 6 finale?
WARNING: FINAL SPOILERS OF SEASON 6
What happened to Finn at Peaky Blinders?
Finally, in the season 6 finale, Finn is kicked out of the Shelby family for his betrayal.
To understand the weight of his actions in episode 6, we need to recall the season 5 finale where Finn revealed information about the assassination of Oswald Mosley. This information was relayed to Captain Swing and the IRA.
As a result, several players in the Shelby gang were killed.
With great suspicion and rising tensions, Finn and Billy Grade are invited to a party at Tommy’s by Isiah and Duke. When they arrive, however, they discover it was all a conspiracy to take down the informant working inside them.
The shots that change everything
They argue that it’s Billy, so Duke asks Finn to shoot him. Finn continues his downward spiral of betrayal by attempting to shoot Duke instead, but the two chambers are unloaded.
However, the third is, and Duke takes the gun to use it to murder Billy.
This sends Finn away, hysterical and sure he’ll do anything to get Duke, who just told him he’s been stripped of the Shelby name.
“It all sounds very epic”
It’s uncertain if Harry Kirton will reprise the role of Finny in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.
However, he has opened up in conversation with the project Digital Spy:
“It all sounds very epic. It would be nice to step into a new role – Finn, step into a new role, I mean. As an actor, you don’t want to pigeonhole yourself for practical reasons. I don’t want to do Peaky before my mid to late 20s just because I think that would be a barrier for me in the future.”
However, he added, “But still inside me, I’d like to continue this story.”
It’s clear he’s grappling with the idea, however, as he continued, noting that “although it would be a lot of fun. With all due respect, I can’t wait to get on with it.”
