What is Fortnite X Overwatch 2? Explained

Overwatch is considering partnerships, as Fortnite has done in the past.

Fortnite and Overwatch are popular team-based fighting games that have enough in common to potentially work well together. Fortnite is owned by Epic Games and Overwatch is owned by Blizzard, so both companies must be open to any kind of collaboration. Overwatch has never worked with non-Blizzard franchises and might be against the idea. Here’s everything you need to know what Fortnite X Overwatch 2 is.

Does Fortnite have an Overwatch crossover?

Fortnite has proven its ability to invite franchises like Naruto and Destiny 2 to fun in-game events and stay relevant to itself. If Blizzard is open to a crossover, Epic Games will be ready, and it seems Overwatch is considering the possibility.

Game Informer interviewed Overwatch Vice President Jon Spector, who says he’s “… interested in exploring collaborations like Fortnite” rather than rolling out ads to monetize the new free-to-play structure. This is as close to an official announcement as it currently is.

Does Overwatch work with other brands?

If Overwatch wants to have crossovers with Pepsi or Monster, instead of introducing ads into the game, they could quietly monetize it. Blizzard could create a Genji skin to remind people of their favorite monster flavor, or a half-red and half-blue wrecking ball that looks like a giant Pepsi logo, and fans wouldn’t have to watch irritating ads between games . These skins would especially stand out during Overwatch League streams and fetch good money.
