What Joel Embiid instructed Nick Nurse to do
With just 20 seconds left on the clock and Embiid’s 76ers holding their 15-point lead, cameras swung to Nurse and Embiid on the side of the court.
The two engaged in an argument that ended with Embiid walking away as the clock continued to count down to zero.
At one point, Nurse raises his hands above his head, as if in a defensive position – to indicate what the two were talking about.
After the game, the duo were asked what had been said.
Embiid gave this report to the media.
“I respectfully told him to stop bitching about calls because I saw what he said last game,” NBC Sports Philadelphia said.
Embiid also noted that Nurse is a “great trainer” and that he has “a lot of time for him”.
For his part, Nurse explained that Embiid had told him he would “continue to take all free throws” if the Raptors continued to foul him.
“I said, ‘You might have to,’ Nurse added, according to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.
What is the story?
After the first game of the series, Nurse had spoken out about the need to make calls when defended by officials against Embiid.
He doubled before game two – although Embiid still ran the show.
In the end, Joel Embiid hit 31 of the 76ers’ 112 total points to lead the team to a 2-0 lead.
The Raptors will look to hit back on the home court in the coming week.
