21:40: Another ship, SS Mesaba, reports several icebergs 15 miles in front of the Titanic.

10:55 p.m.: Another warning comes from a nearby liner, Californian. However, the Titanic continued at full speed.

23:39: The Titanic is now 400 miles south of Newfoundland and despite the multiple warnings she continues to cruise two knots slower than her top speed of 24 knots.

11:40 p.m.: A lookout spotted an iceberg so the engines were reversed and the ship steered to avoid a direct collision. However, the Titanic brushed the side of the iceberg.

11:45 p.m.: Titanic’s engines are all off, but she’s still drifting. Five compartments were torn open by the collision. Chief architect Thomas Andrews predicted that the Titanic would be completely submerged within a few hours.
