Where can I watch I Know My First Name Is Steven: Is it streaming?

There may be many months ahead of us, but we’ve already been invited to watch so many captivating documentaries this year.

From political to true crime, there was something for everyone – especially if you’re into the latter.

One of the latest to garner attention is Captive Audience, a documentary focusing on the case of Steven Stayner, who was kidnapped in 1972 at the age of 7.

While some are first finding out about the case thanks to the Hulu series, a TV miniseries was actually made about it in the late 1980s. With audiences dying to see it, we’re pondering where to catch I Know My First Name is Steven.

I Know My First Name Is Steven is available to watch on DVD but is not currently available on streaming platforms.

Amazon UK has Region 2 copies available from €21.99. While this may seem a bit pricey, it’s because the title is out of print and copies are no longer being made.

On the other hand, Amazon UK is also currently offering Region 1 copies (these play on multi-region DVD players and the US) from £15.87.

Director Larry Elikann, released in 1989, presents Steven’s story in two parts, which were initially shown by both NBC and the BBC.

Captive Audience: A Real American Horror Story sheds new light on the case involving Steve’s mother, Kayand explains why the documentary is important to her:

“Good news doesn’t come often, even back then,” she said. “I wanted to share Steve’s homecoming with the world. I wanted to share the joy we had – the good result, but there was a bad side to that too.”

It will be narrated in three parts and streamed on Hulu.
