Disney Channel’s Descendants premiered on the network seven years ago. HITC delves into the lives of the cast and their whereabouts since the trilogy’s huge success.
The tale of the teenage son of a king and queen of Auradon was a compelling story. The children of the most popular and fearsome villains are given the opportunity to attend a prestigious school in the kingdom.
Throughout the trilogy, the children are tasked with adjusting their lives off the island. They are also on a mission to rescue their parents from captivity.
Now, The Descendants has been a huge hit on Disney Channel, reaching 6.6 million viewers with its three films and talented cast. However, they also faced tragedy within the crew when a beloved star died after filming the films.
Where the Descendants cast is now
Sofia Carson Evie
Well, before joining the cast of Descendants, the Colombian-American actress had already made her mark in the film industry. Her first television appearance was on Disney Channel, where she guest-starred on the series Austin & Ally.
Not long after, she joined Descendants after being introduced as the Evil Queen’s daughter. Sofia then reprized her role in subsequent films.
After Descendants, her fame rose with many projects in line for the actress as well as a singing career.
carson was one of the actresses who took over the legacy of Pretty Little Liars by joining the first spin-off called Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists in 2019. However, the following year the series was discontinued. Nonetheless, the 29-year-old actress starred in her first Netflix film, Feel The Beat.
Most recently, on July 29, 2022, Sofia’s latest work includes the Netflix hit romance-drama film Purple Hearts. In addition to playing the role of Cassie, she also served as an executive producer and wrote the film’s soundtrack.
Dove Cameron (Mal)
Dove’s fame skyrocketed after appearing in the line-up of Descendants – and now it just keeps rising. However, the actress already had a breakthrough with the Disney Channel as the leading lady in the popular series “Liv and Maddie”. The series surpassed the total viewership of the then-leading series “Shake It Up!” with Zendaya and Bella Thorne.
In 2018, the actress debuted as a singer following the success of the Descendants soundtrack. She announced the news when the third (and final) part of Descendants was released in the same year.
Since then, the actress has focused on her singing career and has appeared in several projects in between. In 2020, Dove joined the animated special Descendants: The Royal Wedding to voice her character, Mal.
2022 was a very big year for the singer. She has appeared in numerous published projects such as Machine Gun Kelly’s “Good Mourning”. She joined Becky G, Megan Fox, Avril Lavigne, Pete Davidson and Snoop Dogg, among others. The 26-year-old actress also starred with Ashton Kutcher in dark comedy Vengeance.
Dove was cast as Bubbles in The Powerpuff Girls. Her next film, Field Notes on Love, is also due out next year.
Earlier this year, Dove released her song “Boyfriend,” which achieved international success as her first non-soundtrack song on the Billboard charts. In June she released her second song “Breakfast”.

Cameron Boyce Carlos
Cameron has been active in the showbiz world for a decade. The world was heartbroken at the news of Cameron’s death. The actor died in his sleep at the age of 20 from complications of epilepsy. It came ahead of the premiere of his “final project,” the third Descendants sequel, in 2019.
At the time, his family said he died in his sleep “due to a seizure that was the result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”
In the years that followed, Cameron’s various projects were published posthumously. Wicked Woods: A Descendants Halloween Story and Mrs Fletcher were published in the same year of his death.
In 2020, a documentary titled Showbiz Kids honoring the late actor was released. His last film role was in the American thriller Runt for the role of Cal.
In 2021, Amazon Prime announced the release of Paradise City, which starred Cameron’s character Simon Ostergaard for eight episodes.
Booboo StewartJay
Aside from being known as Jay, many people know Booboo because he appears as Seth Clearwater in the Twilight saga – and if you didn’t know, there you go.
During and after his years in the Disney Channel original film, the actor appeared in numerous projects. Especially in X-Men and Twilight. Booboo’s fame reached a new level after his role as Jay in the Descendants trilogy.
After the end of Descendants, he starred in more than ten projects as part of the cast, now including Pitching Tents, Descendants: Wicked World, Good People, Let Him Go, Paradise City , Guardians of Luna and currently Good Trouble.
Earlier this year, the 29-year-old actor celebrated the release of his first starring film outside of Disney Channel for Those Who Walk Away and My Dead Dad.
China Anne McClain (Uma)
The actress has had a long career on Disney Channel and her appearance in Descendants was the icing on the cake.
From 2018 to 2021, China is interpreting the role of Jennifer Pierce, also known as Lightning, in the superhero series Black Lightning. Although she left the series and her role was recast as Laura Kariuki, the actress returned for the series finale.
The 23-year-old actress reprized her role as Uma in the special series Descendants: The Royal Wedding.
Her music career also took off thanks to Disney Channel. She formed a band called McClain with her sisters Lauryn and Sierra.
China and her sister Lauryn started a YouTube account called Lauryn & China. The two would post all sorts of videos and challenges. The channel is now called “thriii” and has more than 706,000 subscribers. Her last video was a 2021 original song titled “My Sanity (a Quarantine Movie)”.
Anna CathcartDizzy
If you didn’t know Anna as Dizzy in Descendants, you probably know her in Kitty in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
Anna has appeared on shows such as Odd Squad, Under the Sea: A Descendants Story, Spring Breakway, Fast Layne and Zoe Valentine. In 2019, Anna won her first award at the Canadian Screen Awards for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series in Odd Squad.
Though her fame began to soar on Descendants, the 19-year-old actress rose to fame after starring in the Netflix film All The Boys I’ve Loved Before alongside Noah Centineo and Lara Condor.
Her character as Katherine “Kitty” Song-Covey will have her storyline in an upcoming Netflix series XO, Kitty. It will be a spin-off from TATBILB.
