A Winning Team was filmed in Vancouver, Canada based on input from the cast and others. The film is produced by Timeless Picture, a Vancouver-based company. The director of the film Jason Furukawais also located in Vancouver.

in a (n Interviewed by Survived the ShowsJovanna Burke shared that they were shooting in Vancouver when it was snowing, although the film is scheduled to take place in the spring.

“It was winter in Vancouver and there were massive snowstorms when we were shooting this, and of course we shot a lot of it outdoors, so it was interesting for the crew trying to portray the ‘spring weather’ for our outdoor scenes,” she recalled . “When we were shooting the party scene at Sheila’s house, the outdoor fountain was completely frozen and the crew had to heat it up so we looked like we were enjoying a warm spring day.”

They said they spent a lot of time in heat tents as the children had to play soccer in shorts even though it was so cold outside.

The film’s writer, Ronee Uyeshiro, shared this photo during filming.

Actress Marci T. House who plays Coach Avila in the film, shared an Instagram post while at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, and reminisced about her old love for the sport. She mentioned that December 15th was “Wrap Day” and tagged “A Winning Team” in her post.

Both Juliette Hawk and Niki Garcia, who play Izzy and Ava in the film, are in Vancouver.

Hawk wrote in one post, “I had so much fun playing soccer and meeting some new friends on this set!”

After being fired for lack of sportsmanship, pro soccer player Emily Chen (Hatta) travels home to spend some much-needed time off with her widowed brother. When she accidentally injures her niece Ava’s coach, Ian Vermette (Polaha), she fills in for him and leads Ava’s team to the playoffs. With a championship shot at stake, Emily and Ian’s different coaching styles threaten their goal, but as they begin to warm up to one another on and off the field, they both make strides to heal old wounds. But when Emily receives an offer to come back from her old coach, her romantic relationship is threatened. Can these two get back on the same team before the big game?

Nadia Hatta plays Emily. According to her bioShe played the lead role of Mei Chen in the Netflix series Away, which is ranked in the top 10 Netflix original series. She had a starring role in the travel show Fun Taiwan, which won the Golden Bell Award and aired on Discovery Channel and had more than 2 billion viewers. The drama-mystery television series Head Above Water has recurring appearances by Hatta. She currently resides in Canada.

Kristoffer Polaha plays Jan According to his biography, Polaha is best known for his role on The CW’s “Life Unexpected.” Most recently, he had recurring roles on Get Shorty, Condor, and Buried in Barstow last year. Before that, Polaha starred with Rainn Wilson on the Fox show Backstrom. He has also appeared in a number of other TV shows over the past 10 years including North Shore, Miss Guided, Made in Jersey, Ringer and Valentine. He also had a recurring role on the popular show Mad Men for several seasons. Polaha is also known for his many starring roles in original films for Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. He most recently appeared on “We Wish You a Married Christmas” for Hallmark Channel and will star in “A Biltmore Christmas” for the network this year.
