The Royal Nanny was filmed in Brussels, Belgium

The Royal Nanny was filmed on location in Brussels, Belgium. In late August, Executive Producer Lief Bristow posted this beautiful image below, which showed the front of a massive mansion along with the cast and crew.

“I look forward to founding The Royal Nanny here in Brussels,” Bristow wrote.

They also filmed in Ghent, Belgium, as evidenced by a gorgeous sunrise photo that Bristow also posted.

“A peaceful sunrise in Ghent,” wrote Bristow.

Gent is located in the Flemish region of Belgium. It is also the third largest city in Belgium, only Brussels and Antwerp have larger populations. It has both a port and a university.

Actor Toussaint Meghie, who plays Wallace in the film, posted these photos on his Instagram account below. It looks like the whole crew had a wonderful time in Belgium!

“I had a wonderful three weeks filming in beautiful Belgium on the Royal Nanny,” he wrote.

Meet the cast of The Royal Nanny

Hallmark’s film synopsis reads:

After exposing a credible threat to the monarchy three weeks before Christmas, MI5 officer Claire (Skarsten) goes undercover as the Royal Nanny at Kensington Palace to protect the youngest heirs to the throne. Claire isn’t the best cast for the job, but all that will soon change as she takes a crash course in nannying from Ms. Lansbury (Scacchi) – who has been tasked with training the royal family’s caretakers for the past 30 years. Using her cover, Claire’s arrival in Kensington is greeted by Princess Rose (Katie Sheridan, “Lore”), the future Queen of England, and met with a barrage of mischief from Princess Elle (Isabelle Wilson, “The Royal Nanny”) and Prince Robert (Phoenix Laroche, “Trying”), both eager to send the new nanny home. Drawing on a combination of her MI5 and nanny training, she overcomes the challenges that come with her assignment and soon improves the lives of everyone in the royal household by becoming a trusted confidante. At the same time, sparks fly between Claire and Prince Colin (Jeannotte), Rose’s younger brother, but complications arise when MI5 wrongly suspect that a member of the royal family may be directly involved in the conspiracy against the throne. Claire puts both her career and her life on the line to protect not only the man she is in love with, but also the royal family, a family she now feels has become a part of.

Rachel Alice Marie Skarsten plays Claire in the film. According to her bioShe is a Canadian actress, known for her roles as Beth Kane/Alice on Batwoman, Elizabeth I of England on the television series Reign, and Tamsin on the films Lost Girl and Birds of Prey. On May 12, 2020, Skarsten announced in a now deleted Instagram post that she had secretly married Alexandre Robicquet, the man she was dating. She told ET Canada that they got married in the backyard during a coronavirus quarantine.

She posted a series of beautiful pictures and videos with the cast and crew on her Instagram.

“The added bonus for me was the really BEAUTIFUL cast, crew and director who made this experience a high point,” she wrote.

Dan Jeannotte plays Prince Colin in the film. According to his biography, he is recognized by fans for his portrayal of James Stuart, Earl of Moray on The CW’s “Reign.” Also, viewers of The Good Witch series on the Hallmark Channel will recognize him for his role as Brandon Russell.

He posted a picture in late September with co-star Brittany Bristow from another film – A Royal Seaside Romance – which was shown on rival network Great American Family. He wrote: “I know I’m frowning heavily here – it was so sunny! – but you have to admit, everything else in the photo looks pretty good.”

Interestingly, he also played a prince in this film.

In this post he also thanks Belgium and writes: “Merci la Belgique, c’était vraiment chouette” or “Thank you Belgium, it was great!”
