Which, according to Cole Hauser, makes Rip & Beth work on Yellowstone

Given the chemistry between Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, it’s hard to imagine other acting couples who could have had that on-screen chemistry together. The balance between her volatility and passion represents the rollercoaster of emotions that “Yellowstone” has become so well known for. Hauser is a perfect match for Rip, and the actor was eventually cast before Reilly landed the role of Beth. Now that both performers have spent years together, their off-screen friendship helps them feel more comfortable when the cameras are rolling, to take more risks together. Hauser narrated the unique position they both find themselves in after such a lengthy television series parade End of 2022:

“We’re there for each other. It’s the freedom to play, to take risks. You can’t fail. I think when you have that chemistry together you’re allowed to take risks and you don’t have to worry about the possible outcome you would if you did make a film with someone and you don’t know them. We’ve been together for five years now and she’s obviously a dear friend of mine and I help her out where I can and she does the same for me.”

When Yellowstone Season 5 resumes later this summer, Rip and Beth should take center stage on the ranch as John Dutton grapples with his Montana governorship exams. With the potential of Kevin Costner leaving the series, her characters could become the focus of the entire show if Season 6 actually happens. Rip and Beth are arguably the most compelling relationship on the show, but creator Taylor Sheridan may have to uproot them in dramatic fashion to shake things up if Costner ends up walking out.
