Rapper Lil Tjay is currently recovering from surgery after being shot in New Jersey on Wednesday, June 22nd.
The 21-year-old Bronx native was shot multiple times on the Edgewater boardwalk TMZ. Antoine Boyd, 22, also sustained a gunshot wound with him.
The two were quickly taken to the hospital. Now a source is telling TMZ that Lil Tjay “is out of surgery and seems to be doing better…but he’s not out of the woods yet.”
Who is Lil Tjay?
Tione Jayden Merritt, better known as Lil Tjay, is an American rapper and songwriter. A Bronx native was raised by a single mother and has two younger siblings.
The rapper rose to fame after his 2018 song Continue became a hit. He was signed by Columbia Records later in the year.
He released his first studio album True 2 Myself 2019 and released the mixtape Emergency in the following year.
Lil Tjays True 2 Myself opened at number five on the billboard 200 chart and its tracks One try, Hold tight and reckless among other things, became ultra-popular.
The rapper’s second studio album, Designated 2 wincame out in 2021 and contained the megahit track call my phone
His latest release was the song In my headwhich came out in April 2022.
Rapper undergoes surgery after being shot
TMZ reports that police have arrested three men allegedly involved in Lil Tjay’s shooting.
Lil Tjay was reportedly shot multiple times while his friend was shot once.
A source confirmed to the outlet that TJay has now had no surgery and appears to be fine. However, at the time of writing, he is still completely safe.
Lil Tjay’s IG post shows he was hyped for the summer of 2022
Just two weeks ago, the 21-year-old posted a video of his Instagram, caption it: “It’s going to be a good summer.”
The video sees the star dancing shirtless with a large chain around her neck.
Lil Tjay was scheduled to perform at the Nickelodeon Universe theme park on July 22nd. He should also appear at several music festivals in Europe, according to the information SeatGeek.com.
