Who killed Linnet in Death on the Nile?
Simon and Jacqueline are the film adaptation’s killers after the death of the first victim, Linnet Ridgeway-Doyle (Gal Gadot).
After Bouc (Tom Bateman) is murdered, Poirot believes Linnet’s attorney, Andrew (Ali Fazal), was the culprit. However, it was then revealed that Simon (Hammer) pretended to have been shot in the leg while Jacqueline (Mackey) intentionally missed the shot.
However, Simon didn’t kill Louise (Rose Leslie) and Bouc, that was because of Jacqueline. Linnet was Simon’s main target, so Jacqueline was tasked with getting rid of the witnesses.
Does Agatha Christie’s book have the same killer?
Death on the Nile follows Christie’s book closely and retains the same two killers as the novel – Simon and Jacqueline.
However, Branagh brings some creative freedom by changing the way Simon fakes his gunshot wound, using paint as the blood instead of the nail polish used in the novel.
Also, Branagh’s film doesn’t take into account Poirot’s friend, Colonel Race, and also chooses to turn Bouc into a victim.
