Tyra Banks says she won’t be returning as the host of Dancing With the Stars for the upcoming season, leading fans to wonder who might replace her on the show going forward.
Banks spoke about her exit on March 16, 2023, sharing that she wanted to get away from hosting and focus on her business, Smize Cream.
Now fans are wondering who will host the ballroom. It’s possible that Alfonso Ribeiro, who first hosted the show in Season 31, will remain as co-host, but if the show is set to bring another host, who could it be? Read on to find out who some of the potential co-hosts are next season.
Emma Slater has expressed interest in hosting and so has Cheryl Burke
There are several professional dancers who have spent time on Dancing With the Stars and have expressed interest in hosting the ballroom dancing competition.
Cheryl Burke, who ditched her dancing shoes after the show’s 31st season, has said she would love to take on a hosting role on the ballroom competition show. During the January 4, 2023 episode of her former partner Chris Jericho’s podcast: “Talk is Jericho.”
Burke told Jericho that the show is “well aware” that it wants to “evolve” within the confines of the show. She was done being a professional dancer, but she was ready to continue the show in another capacity.
“But they don’t see a place for me,” Burke shared. “Whether at the judges’ table or as a possible co-moderator, and that’s okay. I am grateful, thank you for this experience, but I will continue.”
It’s possible that this will change once a hosting spot is open.
Emma Slater is a professional dancer with a passion for hosting. She just co-hosted the Dancing With the Stars live tour and afterwards said she was very grateful for the opportunity. Slater just got a new hosting job, which could be good for her resume if she decides to take on the same role on Dancing With the Stars.
Maks Chmerkovskiy would like to host
Maks Chmerkovskiy would also like to take on hosting duties, he did before to us weekly.
“I would love to host,” Maks told Us Weekly. “I would fill all the shoes on this show. I wish I had that understanding when I first came to the show, we had a different process because I honestly didn’t have any examples of that in front of me to say, ‘Oh, that’s how it is.’ ”
He added, “Personally, I would love the opportunity to follow in any footsteps on the production side or in front of the camera. I don’t necessarily have the passion to guide anyone through this incredibly grueling three-month process to the end. I may not have, but I have a passion to contribute to dance, to be on TV and to stay with it.”
Some fans are hoping Tom Bergeron will return to the job
While many professional dancers have said they’d love to host the show, some fans are hoping for the return of longtime Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron.
While he originally said he wouldn’t be returning to the show for whatever reason, he opened that door in late 2022 when he was on one Episode of the Burke in the Game podcast..
“Well, there are other people there,” Bergeron said of his return as host. “I appreciate your question, but there are other people in these jobs right now.”
When asked if he could return for season 31, he gave a cryptic answer.
“Let’s just say we’ll cross that bridge if it’s in front of us,” he shared.
Could someone from the “Bachelor” nation handle hosting duties?
It’s possible that the “Dancing With the Stars” host is from a completely different franchise. Gabby Windey has just co-hosted the Dancing With the Stars live tour, which means she has experience that could help if she were interested in the job.
Former “Bachelorette” Kaitlyn Bristowe has also said she would like to be considered and thinks she would be “great” for the job.
Dancing With the Stars is slated to return to Disney+ in fall 2023.
