There’s a reason the entire kingdom of Camelot wasn’t able to lift the sword in the stone until this guy named Arthur showed up – withstanding the weight of the weapon was more of a mental hurdle than a physical one.
That’s a lesson Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) still hasn’t learned The Mandalorian Season 3 with the Darksaber.

Back in Boba Fett’s book, Din struggled to wield the Darksaber as he engaged in practice duels with the Armourer (Emily Swallow). She warned Din that his problem was his lack of focus, not his physical strength.

Why is the Darksaber still so hard for Din in The Mandalorian?
To say that Din’s attempt to wield the darksaber against the terrifying Alamite beasts in the ruins of Mandalore was anything but graceful would be an understatement. Din fights with the heavy Darksaber, almost abandoning the weapon altogether and instead using his fists to defeat the hungry Alamites.
Meanwhile, later in the episode, Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) grabs the Darksaber and wields it with the grace of a ballerina en pointe, deftly wielding the legendary blade.
The armorer actually explained the reason why the darksaber is still so hard for din in The Mandalorian Season 3. Back when she was training with Din, his thoughts were still on Grogu.
According to the Armorer, the wielder of the Darksaber needed to focus solely on the weapon. If their minds were elsewhere, it would make the Darksaber feel heavier. And what is Din focusing on? The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 2? Repayment.

Men will literally try to redeem themselves in the ruins of an abandoned planet instead of undergoing therapy.
OK, it’s not that Din needs therapy per se, but he’s staked his entire sense of identity on being a Mandalorian, so it makes sense that his mind would be more focused on the Armorer’s mission of redemption, in the living waters to bathe, as opposed to, you know learn how to wield the weapon the Mandalorian people cherish above all else.
It makes perfect sense as to why Bo-Katan could use the Darksaber more efficiently. She knows exactly what she wants. She is more focused than Din.
However, Bo-Katan technically didn’t win the Darksaber from Din, so he’s still the rightful owner of the weapon. So will the darksaber still be ridiculously heavy for him as he moves forward? Will he have to go to the intergalactic gym?
We just have to wait and see when The Mandalorian Season 3 brings new episodes to Disney Plus every Wednesday.
