Will Kemp starred alongside Reshma Shetty in “Jolly Good Christmas,” which premiered on Hallmark on October 29. In real life, Kemp has a distinctive British accent. But he dropped the accent for the film, which surprised many viewers. He spoke about the change in social media and answered questions.

Kemp said he loves taking on challenges with accents

On Twitter, one person asked Kemp how difficult it was to keep the American accent throughout the film, especially when they were shooting in London.

Kemp replied: “I love making accents, I’m always up for a challenge and I’ve played against Americans before. I won’t lie though it was tough being surrounded by so many Brits. But it was great script in @HRHOliver1!”

Another person asked, “what happened to your beautiful English accent? 😂😂😂 #JollyGoodChristmas”

Kemp replied, “The Americans got it!”

He talked more about his American accent in one Interview with TV fanatic.

He said, “I really hope you were able to get over that (the American accent) and enjoy the film, and I hope you were able to embrace the fact that I’m playing an American, which I enjoy.”

He added that the way the film was written left him with no choice but to ditch his accent.

“I think there was no choice,” he said. “I mean, the way the script was written, it was brilliantly written. … What attracted me to the project … was that Ron Oliver’s script had such a unique and authentic combination of a South Asian family, the Patels in London and what felt authentic … Then an American or someone from another country had to come from the Outsider. The Kulturkampf.”

He said he loves the challenge of portraying someone new to London.

“Playing a character who has only recently come to London was a wonderful opportunity to explore London pretty much through the eyes of a tourist.”

Will Kemp is known for his British characters on Hallmark

Hallmark viewers loved Kemp’s portrayal of an American. But his role came as a surprise as he has played British characters in previous Hallmark films.

One of his most popular was “Christmas Waltz” opposite Lacey Chabert. Fans have been screaming for a sequel since it aired.

Director, Michael Damian, regularly encourages fans to tag Hallmark for their interest in a Christmas Waltz sequel.

In July 2021, he tweeted: “Hello fabulous Christmas Waltz TV fans and friends!! Stay tuned for some Waltz #2 news coming soon! @MPCA_BKTV @bradkrevoy.”

However, no new sequel has been announced yet. However, he has also written a film with Lindsay Lohan that will be released on Netflix. It’s called “Falling for Christmas” and will premiere on November 10th. Jack Wagner also stars in the film.

Kemp has quite a few films and productions on his list lately. In 2021 he starred in The Princess Switch 3. In 2020, he starred in 10 episodes of Spinning Out. Some of the other Hallmark films he has acted in are Love, Romance & Chocolate, Royal Matchmaker and more.
