Actor Will Smith is talking about slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars in a new video.
In a video titled “It’s been a minute” posted on YouTube on Friday, Smith talked about the incident and whether he’s spoken to Rock since.
“I’ve reached out to Chris and the message back is he’s not ready to talk and when he’s available, he’ll be in touch,” Smith said.
Then he said straight to Rock, “So I’m going to tell you, Chris, I’m sorry. My behavior is unacceptable and I am here whenever you are ready to talk”.
Smith, who won Best Actor for his role in “King Richard,” said he didn’t apologize to Rock during his acceptance speech in March, because he was “blurred.” at the time and “all is fuzzy”.

Smith went on to apologize to Rock’s mother and his family, including his brother, and said at the time he didn’t realize how many people were injured in that moment.
Smith says he also has a great relationship with Rock’s brother and that it’s now “probably irreparable.”

Smith said he’s spent the past three months “replaying and understanding the nuances and intricacies of what happened in that moment.”
“There was no part of me that thought it was the right way to behave in that moment,” he said. “There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle feeling disrespected or offended.”
Smith says that letting people down and letting them down is his “psychological trauma”.
“I hate when I let people down so I hurt my psyche and emotions because I didn’t live up to people’s image and impression of me,” he said.
Smith expressed deep regret and said he was “deeply committed and committed to bringing light, love and joy into the world”.
